These custom CCFL backlights are commonly used in aircraft instrument panels, aka glass cockpits.  Multi-function Displays (MFDs) use sunlight readable displays that must withstand harsh environments.  The heater wire ensures the backlight performs at optimal brightness, despite cold ambient temperatures at high altitudes.  Please inquire about custom dimensions and optical characteristics to match your flight deck requirements.
